Risks of losing a mobile phone with active electronic wallets
Losing a mobile phone with active electronic wallets can lead to serious risks, such as theft of funds, taking loans, access to personal information, and more.
The absence of a secure password or the use of a simple code allows fraudsters to transfer funds via electronic wallets, make purchases, or even take loans.
Main risks when losing a mobile phone:
Theft of funds from bank accounts
If your electronic wallet is linked to bank cards, fraudsters may access your funds, especially if the phone or wallets are not protected by a PIN code or other security measures.
Unauthorized purchases
Using the information stored on the phone, fraudsters can make online purchases.
Taking loans
Fraudsters can take small or online loans through electronic wallets linked to your phone number.
Money transfers
Fraudsters may transfer funds from your electronic wallets to other accounts.
What to do if you lose a mobile phone with active electronic wallets:
Immediately block your SIM card via your mobile operator. This prevents unauthorized persons from receiving SMS codes to confirm transactions.
Contact your financial credit organization to block your bank cards and electronic wallets.
Change the passwords for your email and important social media accounts.
Report the lost phone to the relevant units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, providing the phone’s IMEI number.
Important recommendation:
To prevent potential risks, always protect your mobile phone and electronic wallets with strong passwords, as well as additional security measures such as fingerprint or face recognition.
